It is application time again for the Frog’s Breath Foundation. Applications close March 30 and successful applicants are notified by the end of April. Since it’s inception in 1998, the Frog’s Breath Foundation has donated over 8 million dollars to local organizations. The Foundation is committed to supporting charitable and not-for-profit organizations in our local area from Temagami to Kirkland Lake.
Frog’s Breath distributes funds using interest generated from the original fundraising efforts at our Frog’s Breath golf tournaments. These proceeds were generously matched by Grant Forest Products. Interest generated from the investment is distributed once a year to successful applicants.
Annually we support our 6 local food banks with donations of $5000 to each food bank in November to help local families. We sponsor the Community Living Temiskaming South Walkathon each year. We also award scholarships to students at TDSS, ESCSM, KLDCS, EHS, and ECJV each year in June. These scholarships total $22, 500. We provide an annual scholarship to a Northern Ontario student attending NOSM (Northern Ontario School of Medicine) each year. The remaining funds are distributed to local organizations through the application process.
The Foundation looks to support projects that impact the greatest number of people in our region. We also look to spread our donations across our communities. The Foundation does not provide funding for operating costs such as rent/utilities. The Foundation does consider previous fundraising efforts, applications to other agencies, operational budgets and volunteer base. Not-for-profit organizations that do not have a charitable taxation # need to work with a recognized agency such as a municipality to
act as a sponsor. A letter from the sponsoring organization is required with the application package. We are always looking for new organizations to support in our communities. Applications can be found on our Website – FrogsBreathFoundation.org
Our local Directors are always available to support organizations through the application process and to answer any questions along the way.
